Saturday Sangria: Thai Basil with Pinot Grigio

Summertime always makes me dream of exotic faraway places… Places where always-warm beaches are weekend destinations, only a short drive away, and where citrus fruits grow heavy on trees so ubiquitously that picking them seems almost like a hassle.  Those are the kind of chores I’d love to be burdened with!

Until Ontario becomes a tropical province, I’ll have to content myself with sipping the flavours of exotic destinations.  Luckily there are recipes like this week’s Thai Basil sangria with Pinot Grigio to indulge my wanderlust…

Save 10% on January’s Wines of the Month

Did you resolve to save money and to try new things this year?  If so, we can help you check off both goals!

Until January 31st, 2011, enjoy 10% off our Traditional and Ultimate Italian Pinot Grigio (white) and Italian Barolo (red) wine kits.

Our Italian Pinot Grigio is a refreshing, light-bodied white wine for casual sipping and lighter foods.  Lively notes of green apple, lemon and a touch of floral excite the palate.  Excellent when served with pan-fried fish, chicken wraps, shellfish and light salads, or on its own.

Our Italian Barolo is rich and full-bodied, with inviting tannins and flavours of truffles, licorice and oaky earth. It is very complex with deep structure and layers of oak.

We’ll be closed today (January 1st), for New Year’s Day and Sunday January 2nd (as per regular business hours), but will reopen on Monday January 3rd, 2011.  We look forward to seeing you again soon in the new year!
